The Surrey Slam is a new approach to a well established format of cricket.
Short-form cricket is nothing new, especially on midweek evenings, but rather than it just be more of the same cricket for the same players from the weekend's fixtures, The Slam is working to make it a bit more exciting and a bona fide route to getting players back into / staying involved in cricket when time doesn't allow them to take part in longer formats.

- Freedom for teams to arrange fixtures within a given window (no set day of the week);
- Fully embracing of social media and mobile communication - no meetings, no frustrating bureaucracy;
- Each team guaranteed at least 5 matches to build momentum within the club;
- Batting and bowling restrictions to aid full participation;
- Open to nomadic teams, businesses, friendship groups and established clubs alike;
- No restriction on number of team who can get involved;
- Showpiece Finals' Days to conclude each competition;
- Power with the teams - annual review and democratic voting on rule changes.
