WOMEN'S - MATCH POINTS

Please keep in mind that this points system has been devised to ensure that even if there is a material imbalance in the strength of the competing sides, there remains a meaningful number of points for either team to compete for in each match.

They will be subject to review following the conclusion of every season to ensure their relevance and positive effect on matches.
  • MPW.1 - Points shall be awarded based on the overall result of the match as follows:
  • 6 points to the winning team
  • 0 points to the losing team
  • 3 points to both teams in the event of a tie
  • 3 points to both teams in the event of a cancellation
  • 3 points in the event of an abandonment where both sides have not bowled at least 6 completed overs each
  • MPW.2 - Bonus points shall be awarded to the LOSING team on the following basis:
Batting second (regardless of length of match)
  • 1 point for scoring at least 50% of opponent's total runs
  • 2 points for scoring at least 60% of opponent's total runs
  • 3 points for scoring at least 70% of opponent's total runs
  • 4 points for scoring at least 80% of opponent's total runs
  • 5 points for scoring at least 90% of opponent's total runs
Bowling second (regardless of length of match)
  • 1 point for delaying victory until the final -4 over
  • 2 points for delaying victory until the final -3 over
  • 3 points for delaying victory until the final -2 over
  • 4 points for delaying victory until the penultimate over
  • 5 points for delaying victory until the final over
Bonus points will be automatically calculated by PlayCricket but teams should check to ensure that this is the case and notify the Competition Manager ASAP if any errors are noticed.
  • MPW.3 - In the event of poor weather reducing play to an extent where both sides are unable to bowl at least 6 completed overs then points shall be awarded as stated in MPW.1.
  • MPW.4 - In the event of poor weather reducing play but NOT enough to prevent both sides bowling 6 complete overs, the result of the match shall be calculated via the Duckworth/Lewis method using one of the following apps:

PLAY-CRICKET SCORER

ANDRIOD
APPLE

TARAMS D/L CALCULATOR

ANDRIOD
APPLE
Teams are responsible for ensuring that they have at least one member of their team who has access to one of the above apps and is familiar with how to utilise it so as not to cause unnecessary delay to the match. Both apps contain links to instructions.
  • MPW.4a - For the purposes of managing evening matches where a delay occurs in the first innings of a match (and the light is fair) it should be assumed that a full innings takes 60 minutes to complete, and a full match takes 130 minutes, when calculating how many more overs of the match can be completed.
  • MPW.4b - For daytime matches where end time is not a pressing factor then rather than invoking MPW.4a teams may elect to wait as long as mutually agreeable to fit in as many overs as possible,
  • MPW.4c - Bonus points shall be awarded as per MPW.2 regardless of a match being resolved by DL method.
